Dad of my daughter's college swim teammate is a high level engineer with GM. Had several conversations about where car technology is going. They are required to drive (more or less lease) fleet GM cars, so he drives quite a variety of Chevy and GMC vehicles. It was quite obvious very quickly to all the GM managers and engineers that EVs will never fulfill more than a small niche of short distance commuting. Everyone at GM was ready to give up their EVs quickly. They are just not practical at all for a single vehicle family. They have surmised that consumers will never adopt an EV-only multi car family. You will always need/want a hybrid or pure ICE vehicle. The technology just never will be there.
