Worked in Hawaii for a long time

Spend a half day at Waikiki but no more. You can hike up Diamond Head. Pearl City is a must see. You can drive up toward Wahiwa and do the touristy Dole Plantation on your way to the North Shore. Circle around to Haliewa then on to Waimea. The Polynesian Cultural Center is pretty cool but kind of expensive. Hanama Bay is amazing snorkeling with Blowhole not far from there. Makapu'ua Lighthouse is also pretty cool. Oahu is not that big. You can easily see most everything in a couple days. I've done the counter-clockwise circle from Waikiki around the island a few times. But whatever you do, if you find an idol in a cave, do not remove it!

Oahu has a lot of mixed use condo/hotel places. So you can get a kitchen
