If you are in Wisconsin gotta see the Wisconsin Maritime Museum
In Manitowoc, about an hour fifteen North of Milwaukee. My son lives four blocks down the river from Lake Michigan. The museum covers the maritime history of Lake Michigan and has a WW2 submarine you can tour. 29 subs were built in Manitowoc during WW2. Pretty cool place. You can also see the place where Sputnik crashed and burned down the street.
And yes, Indiana sucks. Have you driven through Gary?
