He's great for advertisers, he's kind of a teddy bear now but gets to keep
the cred. He's also done well refining his image, pretty self aware, smart, paying attention. Like suggested below with the Willie Nelson comparison he kind of owns the persona now, a stock character for tv shows, movies, plays, adds etc.So yeah, you want to make your product feel more edgy but without scaring people, put this guy in your commercial.
And not to suggest he's a charade, he comes across as pretty authentic, just that he understands show business.
