My father was/is the most strait laced, by the book guy ever. My godfather was the funniest/ wildest Navy jock ever. They started navy flying right after WWII. So they were stationed at NAS Atlantic City. Early 1950’s. Things were much more relaxed back then. They were both asked to do some air maneuvers over the beach for an air show. They discussed it. My father did some basic loop de loops. But my godfather decides he’s going to do some unauthorized, high speed, low level pass right over the beach/boardwalk. He would tell that story. And how the mayor tried to get them in all sorts of trouble. He swore a woman in a wheelchair stood for the first time as he blazed by.
