Well, he's got to feel some financial pain from his lack of focus. The
good news is it will most likely get better. One of mine had several accidents under the age of 21 and nothing since.....
My advise, make it painful but don't crush him with debt or anxiety, but get him to contribute something but don't let him off the hook completely. Ask him what he thinks is fair. He might surprise you.
