VT Skier had it all right. 4 points. BJ earned the Bronze Star for attempting to rescue a stranded soldier. The rescue effort went awry when the chopper was hit by small arms fire. The fate of that soldier was unknown. BJ gave that medal to a patient. Burruss Writer got most of the way there. 3.5 points. Frank got a second Purple Heart for taking shell fragments to the eye. Egg shell fragments. Hawkeye (IIRC) gave that medal to an infant who was delivered at the 4077th. The mother had been shot and the baby was nicked by a bullet. Frank got his first Purple Heart for injuring his back while "dancing" with Hotlips. Hawkeye gave that medal to a young soldier played by Ron Howard. Hawkeye was sending him out of the war after discovering he was underage, and the medal was meant to impress ex-girlfriend Bernice back home.
