Hope your layovers are long. Not sure if you can change your flights at this point, but this is what I'd do.... Leave from Dulles! There is a one stop flight to SYD via SFO. Lots of times you can book an overnight stay in SFO...so it would be a six hour flight, night at a hotel, and then 15 hour flight to SYD. Hotels near Dulles offer a Fly and Park rate...although for you length of trip not sure of the costs.
