Very common scam in real estate. Never ever ever wire funds in response

to an email, it's 100% a scam. The closing attorney's wiring instructions will NEVER change. Most attorneys I know will not wire seller proceeds either, as I have heard of scams where people impersonate the owner of a property and try to sell it (some of these fake transactions have even "closed.") Link below - NC Real Estate Commission bulletin on wire fraud (I work in real estate in NC.)

Have you heard of anyone recovering funds that were scammed?

Possibly insurance coverage for this. Depends on the scope of endorsements
RhinoVT 12/30/24 09:39 AM ET
I imagine it would have to do with whether or not the lawyer was involved
