Posting History (104)

He's in the Ferrum sports HOF as a player

Should be a great fit for him, if he does reasonably well he'll be there a long time.

Off topic but... Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat) scored 83 last night

against the Wizards. Second highest scoring game ever, passed Kobe's 81. Dude made 36 --free throws-- (36-43, that's pretty good foul shooting in addition to going to the line a crazy number of times.) Wilt, Bam Adebayo, Kobe.

Also a popular sex toy is among today's words

I am 99% sure those are available with college-branded colors and logos :)

Maybe a better way to ask this…

Were your expectations for Neo 1- unrealistically high 2- about right 3- unrealistically low Some of the so-called hype IMO was in our own minds. We heard VT had signed a one and done guy and thought we were getting Cooper Flagg. Neo isn’t that type of player, but he’s super talented and when he’s on he can be brilliant. I agree with another poster that he’s still adjusting to the athleticism and physicality of US college basketball. And the coaches are still figuring out how to use him while he figures out how he fits into our style/system. Plus injuries have forced us into ever changing lineups. Most of the preseason reviews from people who really follow VT basketball thought Hansberry would be our best player. Maybe we got a little out over our skis re Neo. I still like this team and really wish everyone could have stayed healthy. Looking forward big time to Johnson coming back.

Well, we did make the longest game-winning shot in the history of basketbal

l. But that was a long time ago. And I watched it myself on my friend's tiny B&W TV on 7th floor Lee.

I know I’m supposed to root for the ACC team

but I am an honorary Arkansas Razorback, and, well, it’s Louisville. Wooooo pig sooey.

RIP - musician George Wade of the Blacksburg band Not Shakespeare

George was the vocalist and principal songwriter of Not Shakespeare, who were active from about 1981 until the mid nineties. He was diagnosed with cancer about 5 years ago and passed this morning at his home in Charlottesville. Survived by his wife Jen. I met George when we both lived on campus in 1979. Saw his band & partied at the Not house(s) more times than I can remember. Part of many of my most favorite memories. If you knew George or knew those who knew him, there’s stuff on social media. Memorial gathering sometime next spring. DJ Golf is sad. 😒

And she played the last 6 minutes with 4 fouls

& literally nobody on the bench. If she fouls out they only have 4 players left. ** Edited by DJ Golf at 11/15/2025, 9:18:08 AM

Have you heard the song β€œVirginia Tech” by Panda Bear?

Not sure why that’s the title as the lyrics don’t have anything to do with VT or Blacksburg, but it’s a pretty cool song. Panda Bear is originally from Charlottesville and grew up in Baltimore, and is also a member of the band Animal Collective if you know them.

Some lyrics from one of my fave songwriters come to mind

β€œDig yourself, Lazarus / Dig yourself back in that hole” - Nick Cave

So I read that Indiana is interested in Brownell

and my nephew who went to Clemson said Clemson will let him go, won't break the bank to keep him.

Someone should open a chicken biscuit joint in Durham called Lane Violation

(if you didn’t know, there’s been one in Chapel Hill for years called Time Out)

The fact that UNC has allowed their basketball program to decline as much

as it has while they embarrass themselves chasing football success in the way they have (instead of using their plentiful resources to hire an actual top notch college football coach) ought to show you what a mess it is.

How about the UNC player going the wrong way on the inbound

resulting in a backcourt violation that gave Clemson the ball with a chance to tie or win? UNC hung on, fortunately for that young lady. I have seen a player dribble to the wrong basket for a layup in a high school game, but never anything like that in a college game.

Also kind of a crappy thing to do to the school and fan base that paid him

all that money. As in, quit right before basketball season starts resulting in more or less a lost season. My job is frustrating sometimes too but I don’t get paid seven figures.

She is OK according to media reports

Received medical attention and left the game walking without assistance

My Raleigh friends said State was going to fire Keats at end of last season

and he saved his job by winning the ACC tournament. I’d guess the final 4 run bought him at least one more year after this one, but you never know.

There’s a meme making the rounds that says something like

β€œI don’t want AI to make art for me while I do a mindless job - I want AI to do my mindless job for me so I can make art”

BTW I have also heard of real estate firms being sued by their clients

and being held liable when brokers received fraudulent emails and thought they were real & forwarded them to the client, causing the client to lose money. So those of us in the biz have to be careful too. Wire fraud warnings appear in all the standard contracts now too. But it still happens.

It’s possible if the money is still in the US banking system

but if enough time has passed for it to get offshore it’s probably gone.
