I carry a Leatherman Micra everywhere I legally can. It's the ultimate little utility knife with a blade, scissors, screwdriver, can opener, file, and (useless) tweezers. Holds an edge well. It's small, light, and very useful. For every day carry, I carry a DART knife made by Fox. It was designed by Doug Marcaida and uses the licensed Emerson feature for quick deployment. It also has a retention ring that can be used as a knuckle duster. Holds a great edge. You can use it standard grip or pekal (icepick grip) for self-defense. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the locking mechanism. I much prefer how my Griptilian locks, but that may not be technically feasible or be and added cost due to licensing for the DART. I started carrying this when I had a much more dangerous job. IMO the best EDC knife every created.
