My Dad's warning when I went there for the '95 Sugar Bowl. "Don't go

anywhere alone, or anywhere where's it's not well lit." Note that this was further emphasized by a drunk guy we met within an hour of getting the French Quarter. He turned sober for about 10 seconds to say "If you find yourself in some place where it's dark and you're by yourself, don't stop, don't look, don't even think. Just turn around and run as fast as you f'in can in the other direction". Then he turned back into a drunk idiot.
