I am hoping to go part time in about 3 years and the mrs will continue to

work enough hours to retain healthcare benefits for a couple of years at least. She stayed home for 10 years and is a few years younger than me so it seems like a fair trade. I am self-employed so we have been on her benefits since she returned to work full time about 14 years ago. I do have a friend who did exactly what you describe and it seems to be going well for them. His wife was excited to get back into the workforce. Kind of like tagging out to someone with much more ambition and energy. :)
