Thx. Too bad these columns are more interesting in theory than practice.

"Virginia Tech should be one of the top three programs in the ACC"
I agree! As the ACC football goes, the top 4 teams should be Miami, Clemson, F$U and VT, and unlike our recent 2-3 decades, the ACC should definitely have more than one good team every year.

Agree, but SMU isn't the SMU of the 90s. Major Money out there
After the "Death Penalty" in the late 80s, they were toast........until the invention of paying players as Legal came about, and SMU created the pay for play decades earlier. They were magical at doing it, and probably had orgasms and seizures when it became legal, and you have old Dallas oil money, and I don't see them going away. The talent they have on the field isn't anything remotely resembling 1995 or 2005 or 2015. ** Edited by Hate2SeeItEnd Hokie at 5/21/2026, 9:25:16 AM

Agreed
SMU isn't going anywhere. Clemson is waning, FSU is waning. By the next year or so VPI, SMU and Mia will be perennial favs in the ACC.
