Compared to last year…
Were we more disciplined? Yes (less penalties, better tackling)
Were we more aggressive? Yes (sacks and turnovers & longer passing plays)
Do we have some glaring weaknesses to fix? Hell Yes (Anything to do with the run game on O & D)
Are we “ready” to compete for an ACC title? No
Are we better than last year and showing improvement? Yes!
I’m anxious to see what happens next week! Go Hokies!

We all have to be patient. It’s going to take time to get back to1999.

We played better football than we did last year. Multiple players made plays.
ODU definitely went eight men in the box and dared wells to beat them. Last year he couldn’t. We had one deep threat and he was a straight post guy. Now we have playmakers at receiver and wells is able to hit them.
We have to keep improving everywhere

Less penalties and good tackling when we were in the right spot. I felt like we overran a lot of plays on defense and ODU got lots of yards from them. Some bad angles, some wrong gaps....but we do have a lot of youth on D. Hopefully film will help us grow each week. I am encouraged by the fact that we seemed to get better at the end of the game with two players ejected.

I think we had one or two, but nothing like last year.

Zero false starts, one delay of game, I think

T-Bo did nothing to spread out the defense, so they could continue to stack the box.

We're going to have to be a set up the run with the pass team. Hindsight is 20/20 but I was not a fan of the endless string of sideways or backwards passes we started the game with. Agree we have to stretch the field. The good thing is we have relievers to do it. And Tuten early on had some very impressive short runs when our line gave him nothing.
