Not long ago I made the statement that Demarcus Brown was the only UVa commit I’d consider trying to woo. He’s the #11 recruit in Va (at the time he was inside the top 10 if memory serves), 6’3” 180 lb WR from Roanoke with 3*s at 89 composite. He’s also the highest ranked of UVa’s 2027 class. Last night Jacquie Franciulli (UVa insider) put in a flip crystal ball from UVa to VT. It would be nice to get some traction with highly ranked athletes in Roanoke given the helicopter recruiting multi fail of 2 years ago. VT is also receiving OVs from 3 of the UVa recruits that UVa has visiting, Junior Saunders (#6 in Va, 90 comp and already crystal balled to VT), Q’Mari Hudson (#9, in Va 89 comp) and Chanin Harris (#13 in Va and 88 comp). Of course, those guys might go out of state, BIG or SEC. And two of them are OTs which puts them in contention with Dominic Black who’s an official visit and highly rated OT as well (90 comp and #7 in Ohio). Might not be enough slots for all 3 OTs at VT. The third is a WR and it seems to me (IMO) we have a good WR room. Nice problems for VT to have. This has the makings of a program on fire (VT with 90 OVs upcoming) and a dumpster on fire (UVa has 14 OVs upcoming of which 3 recruits are committed to PSU and Vandy).
