I know this is not likely to happen as the ones to set guidelines up

would be the same that are benefitting from the lack of restrictions. But, if the goal is a long term competitive environment (not sure that's everyone's goal here) across regions/conferences/teams, I think the only way that this can be sustainable and allow more than a handful of teams/conferences to truly be competitive over time is to have some sort of player payment cap and have some sort of standard player contracts. Teams can divvy it up however they want, but each can spend up to $XXXX each season. I'd like to see the same sort of cap for coaching staffs as well.
