No idea... but right now we're not even winning little games. If we get to

the point where losing big games matters then it means we will have improved a lot.

Franklin can’t win big games at PSU. Would VT be different?
JHHOKIE 10/29/25 12:05 AM ET
Let’s start with being relevant again.**

We cant get to big games so he should be good!**
DLDesk 10/29/25 11:46 AM ET
We can't win enough to get into a 'big game'...**
banishedtothelounge 10/29/25 11:39 AM ET
Doubtful. Didn't win them at Vandy either. Certainly not worth the risk.**
marcbvtgm 10/29/25 11:19 AM ET
He didn’t have “My sweet boy, Diego”**
VT ChemE 1986 10/29/25 11:29 AM ET
He had a QB who hung around the NFL for 2-3 seasons. And a pretty good RB.

VT winning 10+ games a year, but never against top-5, was VT's golden age**
Synaesthesia 10/29/25 10:39 AM ET
What coach is available that has consistently beat top 10 teams? Good luck**
DDhokie31 10/29/25 10:24 AM ET
With top 10 resources? Probably some. But definitely not Franklin.**
marcbvtgm 10/29/25 11:20 AM ET
Saban**
Happy Dog 10/29/25 10:43 AM ET
Key word is "available". No chance in hell he comes to VT**
DDhokie31 10/29/25 08:55 PM ET
He's available if Miss Terry says he is! Lot of $$$ out there.....**
Happy Dog 10/30/25 04:52 AM ET
No idea... but right now we're not even winning little games. If we get to
AbsolutVT03 10/29/25 10:15 AM ET
Couldn't win the big one vs Never been to the big one. Thats the choice

Are we waiting for coach to show up in a chariot and sweep us off our feet?**
bigbadbird 10/29/25 08:29 AM ET
Calling Ben Hur. 😊**

Easier to win big ACC games than in the B1G
hburghokie09 10/29/25 08:12 AM ET
VT first has to win game
1947Sunbowl 10/29/25 08:09 AM ET
I do not trust any coach who has had success with the resources of PSU
VT ChemE 1986 10/29/25 11:34 AM ET
At this point, it would be nice for VT to play in some big games.**
reestuart 10/29/25 07:58 AM ET
Lol, what i would give to have big meaningful games to lose again at VT**
Vippie1 10/29/25 07:45 AM ET
You got that right Chesney would be a better choice
mlewisr 10/29/25 07:43 AM ET
What is Chesney's record? Never mind that I think the vs Top 5 or whatever
AbsolutVT03 10/29/25 10:26 AM ET
Good points
mlewisr 10/29/25 10:59 AM ET
James Franklin may be in a better position to defer
Marooned 10/29/25 12:30 PM ET
So he's "basically" tracking with Frank Beamer.**
Techsupport 10/29/25 09:30 AM ET
Agree with you on that - Chesney is on the rise, and we should rise as well**
Happy Dog 10/29/25 09:22 AM ET
He has a bunch of Top-10 finishes (maybe 5?) in his decade at PSU which
Tuckahokie 10/29/25 06:13 AM ET
Except Franklin underachieved given his resources & talent. FB overachieved**
marcbvtgm 10/29/25 11:22 AM ET
Right now we can't win big OR little games, so........**
Happy Dog 10/29/25 06:10 AM ET
He's not my first choice but we could do a lot worse **
HokiesACC2004 10/29/25 05:37 AM ET
We could do worse...that's the attitude for success right there**
marcbvtgm 10/29/25 11:23 AM ET
Whose your Choice ? Just wondering..**
JRHokie 10/29/25 05:38 AM ET
I would roll the dice with Bob Chesney **
HokiesACC2004 10/29/25 05:43 AM ET
With you on that - Franklin is the safe choice, Chesney is out-of-the-box
Happy Dog 10/29/25 06:10 AM ET
JMU has been getting uppity lately...that would be humorous at least :>)**
Tuckahokie 10/29/25 05:54 AM ET
They've earned it - they are playing good football
