I think it gets him another HC job but not VT
I’d say he would be good candidate for OC on the new staff with a nice pay raise to reward him for rallying the team. Let him put together his own offensive staff. That sort of thing. Bob Chesney brings his DC, keeps Monty as OC. Monty goes and buys a QB that suits him in the portal. I like it.
That said, VT isn’t winning 6 games.
