It has been done before (Bill Snyder)

but he is a very rare cat, and already was a successful head coach. Most people, once they step away from the rat race for any length of time, have no desire to get out of their hammock and go back. They lose their fire. This is probably true of Bud. The time to give him a chance was right after Beamer "retired," but it seemed the A.D. wanted to go in a different direction, likely due to his own vanity, and here we are.
