I would absolutely expect it from Kelly, it's right in his MO
Make an absurd statement that he absolutely knows is neither legal nor possible so that he can look like he's some kind of saint. Meanwhile, his minions are off trying to poach players from other teams by offering them more money. He's a believe what I say, not what I do but you can't prove I do kind of guy. Don't think that statement is a look the other way attempt since word is out he's poaching players?
No different than always whining about the academic standards at ND causing him to not be able to compete. Meanwhile, like every other school, anyone who is eligible and could help the team win, would be on the roster and the second he could make more money he ran off to one of those schools that doesn't have those academic barriers.
Awwww shucks, I don't make the rules, I just find ways to use them to make $millions.
