in the Big East before VT joined the conference. Banners saying things like "Ewing is an ape" and "Ewing Kant Read Dis". Someone even threw a banana peel onto the court one time. Fortunately he was able to power through it, but it was a bad series of looks for college sports.

Steve Kerr. They yelled "PLO" and "where's your dad?" at him when he played at Arizona. His dad was the President of the American University in Beirut and was assassinated by terrorists years before.

Agree he was treated very poorly in his career.
In his high school career it was bad too. Ewing wouldn’t talk back but he would point at the scoreboard when running back to play defense.

back when Maryland won the Natty with Juan Dixon and that group. Juan's mother had died of a crack cocaine overdose years prior. UVa fans were chanting "Crackhead Mother" every time he did anything. If I remember correctly, he lit them up for a ton of points. It was unfathomable to me that people could say crap like that.
