I read in the Roanoke Times today that Trey Beamer from
Martinsville and IMG Academy committed to Boston College. He played at the Carlisle School and transferred to IMG Academy. Article says he’s a 6’2” combo guard and listed by ESPN as a 4 star and the #75 best prospect in the 2026 class with offers from BC, Maryland, Mississippi State, South Florida, Virginia Tech, College of Charleston, DePaul, Florida State, Hampton, High Point, ODU, Radford and Wake Forest. I’m wondering what’s the scoop here from @GCHokie34 and/or @Rev.Zeke Vodka, or others who have info. Seems strange he would choose BC among all the others unless they were full or backed off so some reason.

Not every offer is commitable...
Then you have to contend with what every program needs in that particular recruiting cycle. With transfers playing a bigger part, schools are slow playing their high school recruits more than ever to fill holes rather than build their future. Im not sure where VT stood on whether it was a commitable offer, but if BC really liked him then kudos to them for forcing the issue and getting the commitment. Personally, I dont view him on the same level as other Top 70ish players historically, but I dont know how deep this particular class is I think if he didnt have IMG attached to his name he might have less offers and a much lower ranking He very well could develop and become a good player, but there's nothing to suggest he has a better chance than many players ranked below him
