So IMO this is a preferable model than KY Duke etc
if you can somehow make yourself the preferred portal destination every year and routinely nail a handful of the top available "portalees" , you are going to consistently outperform the top high school recruiters -who's kids leave after one or two years. Age/experience/toughness/physicality will be on your side.
Do I like either model- NO! But it is what it is. Most schools like VT are and will continue to be hybrids.
