TBF, I think we're 7-4 in such games this year.

We won a bunch early this year. It generally hasn't been an issue for him in his career, I don't think. I go back to his very first season. His very first game, Tech won 67-60 at Clemson. Seven points was actually our largest lead of the game. We turned a 3-point lead with 45 seconds left into a 7-point win. Clemson attempted a game-tying 3-pointer, but Bede blocked it and Radford picked it up for a breakaway layup to break it open. A couple weeks later we beat No. 3 Michigan State 71-66. Tech was up by two with two minutes left, but closed the game strong to win by 5. The next year we beat No. 3 Villanova in overtime. Though we did almost lose because Aluma accidentally banked in a FT he was supposed to miss (LOL). Some crazy, crazy things happened late in that game (see the recap listed below), but we kept our composure and won in OT. Personally, I think we just had higher IQ players back then. Guys like Cattoor, Bede, Alleyne, etc. were smart basketball players. Contrast that with Neo taking those shots early in the shot clock with 2 minutes left against Stanford, or Lawal fouling 25 feet from the basket, etc. Nor do we have defensive stoppers like Bede, Cattoor or Alleyne. Don't get me wrong, that's partially on him as well. But I don't think he's out there making X's and O's mistakes. ** Edited by Chris Coleman at 2/19/2026, 6:24:59 PM
