You don't keep upping the price just to get a certain player If Louisville like 10 players and thinks they're worth X amount, they aren't going to pay double that for one player just because another team outbids them For instance, if VT wants to offer Jaydon Young 100k because they feel that's what he's worth...and someone comes in at 125k, I would much rather VT find a replacement player at 100k rather than going up to 150k, because you're paying more than the value of how you feel he is worth If you have 150k to spend, you'd be better off chasing a player worth 150k rather than overpaying for a 100k player So yes, Louisville (and any other program who wants to be efficient with how they spend) would absolutely let someone walk over a certain amount if the amount was well over what they felt the player was worth Every dollar you spend somewhere takes it away elsewhere...would you rather have Jaydon Young at 150k or someone the same level as Jaydon Young for 100k and use the 50k saved for a different position of need? I know you'll come back with some argument for Jaydon Young because this is the internet and we need to make arguments, but the facts are smart teams lock in values and recruit enough players so that they don't have to overpay and cause downstream effects
