wanting to be apart of the P2 group. VT would like the money that comes with being in the P2 group. However, it is unlikely VT's checkbook is deep enough to be able to treat all athletes as employees. Now if football, men's basketball, and women's basketball are the only sports to treat the athletes as employees, then VT could afford it. However, I do not believe the current labor laws and Title IX will allow the schools to go that route. They may attempt it, but the courts will eventually rule to expand the requirement to all athletes.
