You can cherry pick all the stats you want but he is not and will not be better than Pedulla or Murphy. Just because Rech may be a slightly better shooter than them doesn’t make up for his deficiencies handling the ball and running the offense. Way too many turnovers, especially at crucial times. He doesn’t make anyone around him better. Defensively he did a good job staying in front of Mcneely when he had the ball in the first half but was constantly out of position and giving mcneely whatever he wanted in the 2nd. He can’t get through screens but is also slow to rotate/switch and find the weak side man. UVA is not the first team to go at him on the defensive side and they won’t be the last. He simply can’t guard/stay in front of an ACC caliber guard. I think Hammond clearly brings a lot more to the table on the both sides of the ball and has more room to grow being a year behind Rech. It looks like playing time over the last few games is starting to reflect that as well.
