Let’s look at statistics

And keep in mind this is really Rechsteiner’s first year getting minutes, so he is behind the curve in his growth. Sophomore stats for both: Pedulla - 34% from 3, 3.8 assists, 2.1 TO Rechsteiner - 31% from 3, 3.1 assists, 2.2 TO Rechsteiner is not a great defender, but Pedulla is possibly the worst defender I have ever seen in a Hokies uniform. Rechsteiner also keeps the offense moving, while Pedulla was a ball dominant PG, which made our offense extremely stagnant. I don’t think it is insane to think Rechsteiner could increase his 3 point % by more than 3%, increase assists by more than .7, and decrease his TO by more than .1, if given an opportunity to start next year. I am also not saying it would definitely happen, but as someone who has coached more than 30 D1 players and multiple professional players, I definitely don’t think it is insane to think he could be as good as or better than Pedulla or Storm.
