1) The ACC tourney championship alone would've been worth 7 yrs of otherwise terrible basketball, much less something considerably better than terrible most years 2) Averaging about 1 game below .500 in ACC play is, as GCH keeps pointing out, quite decent by our standards. But also if it's the average over 7 yrs, odds are you'll have at least 1 season during that stretch that's clearly tournament worthy, maybe 2. Package all that together with a few NIT appearances and, well, that's what passes as a great seven-year run for VT MBB (like it or not). Could we "aim higher?" Absolutely, but not with the current state of our athletic department, not realistically. As frustrated as I've been with this particular team's approach this season and the Nail The Windows Shut Before I Jump Out Of One reaction that has inevitably provoked...GCH is fundamentally right about the Mike Young era. 2 NCAA tourneys, presumably 3 NITs, and an ACCT title is literally one of best ever 7 yr stretches. (And if you add the last 4 yrs of Buzz's tenure to that, you have unquestionably the best 11 yr stretch we've had in the modern history of the program.) These are, alas, the salad days lol. So, bemoaning that or celebrating it is our choice to make, always. I have mostly celebrated it up until precisely Jan 8, 2026, so hopefully I can get back to that. I hate being a grouch about VT MBB.
