There's a number of reasons not to teach that way

You mentioned one in the transition aspect. You're also more likely to get in foul trouble with that method. It really boils down to every philosophy point is a choice, and there's not many choices that are all positives and no negatives So you look at what your team is and then decide where you can/should take chances I think MY feels if they aren't aggressive in attacking the offensive glass then they will have to play at a much higher tempo to make up for the lost and inefficient possessions. If you have a team of 5 sharpshooters on the floor, you'll want to limit transition points because you know your efficiency will ultimately win out. You're more skilled than the other team. This current roster isn't going to out-skill most teams. So MY is having to do more out-coaching/strategizing than in previous years Minimize your weaknesses and try to force the game into situations that play to your strengths.
