Given the only reason the state built the current stadium is because it was
hoping to lure the Patriots away from MA, I suspect UConn may not have much of a say in the matter especially since taxpayers' dollars were used to build it. The state government may even need to still justify the decision to the people and/or the politicians' pride/ego are preventing UConn switching back to DI-FCS. It is even possible that UConn and/or enough politicians are hoping that UConn is either invited to join the ACC or Big Ten.
