Except it is unlikely basketball is rising any time soon to have the level
of influence football currently has on the discussions. College basketball may even have too many games (regular season and postseason) which could prevent basketball from obtaining the same value as football currently has now. If the ACC does end up dying in the future, then it would not surprise me to see some of the ACC basketball schools end up joining the Big East for all sports except football and be content with having a Tier II status. BC, Syracuse, Pitt, Duke, Wake, and maybe GT are the schools that come to mind first. I realize they may have other offers on the table and they may end up accepting them. However, it could be an opportunity for them to get back to their roots and be a member of a conference where basketball is king and queen on campus.

With UConn, the ACC would have 9 of last 14 champs (currently have 6 of 14)**

The ACC should consider it. Go against the grain.
