I don't have the data, but his poor shots often come batched with TOs

In other words, the TIMING of his bad shots are usually right after a TO or getting faced by his guy on offense. It can mean teh difference between a 5 point deficit growing to 8 or 11 in a hurry. He's not a calming influence. His desire to makeup for the mistake actually snowballs. The rest of the team just watches him because he's off script and going solo. The opposing team is speeding him (and our entire offense) up. They bait him into the paint. It's a pretty predictable pattern. As you say, with Rech, you see a "pass first" posture which explains why the team would be more comfortable running the offense. SP seems to be creating the wild volatility, and yet often saving us from going scoreless for minutes. My bet is if we stuck to the script and got better at running the offense, as a collective unit, we'd fix the scoring issue.

Lineup changes needed. More Poteat, less Kidd, move Pedulla.

Kidd has seemed disinterested of late

That’s the problem. We don’t have a starting 7. We’re all over the place
HokieHeartNSoul 01/18/24 10:33 AM ET
Rechsteiner has a higher TO rate than Pedulla, FWIW.

Two things about that stat

There's no 'going for broke' with the current roster. Too many older . . .
MidloHokie 01/18/24 10:20 AM ET
Depends on what the changes are.
Chris ColemanAdmin 01/18/24 10:19 AM ET
Exactly! well said. Pedulla is the only must have for next year.**

I thought the smaller lineup was more effective even with Poteat at the 5

Correct. Suggesting Collins or Cattoor play PG is nuts . . .
MidloHokie 01/18/24 10:27 AM ET
MJ Collins is a better PG/passer wise than Pedulla**
