The other thing you see is the elite recruiting programs

Getting much better over the course of the season. Duke, Kentucky, etc. usually have some ugly losses in the first couple of months. But by tournament time they are really good. Seems like the best situation is to get four-star players who are not quite first rounders, and then keep them for a few years. Villanova and Michigan State seem to do that pretty well. Like that San Diego State team, which could’ve competed in the NFL. Big, strong, grown men.

NIL and portal prevent keeping high star talent, and developing 3*s.**

Could Basile have chosen to stay for some NIL money?
GCHokie34 11/30/23 09:08 PM ET
I’m saying in general for any program everywhere that wants to develop **
3TechFanz 11/30/23 09:33 PM ET
Maybe, but I don't think the portal is luring our desirables away...
Bmackattack 11/30/23 06:32 PM ET
Yep, that hurts system teams like VT, UVA, etc. And, helps Duke, Kentucky..
