My impression is that CMY in past would have preferred the core approach

His Wofford teams reflected this and his initial run at VT was the same (and it got us an ACC championship). So I think it is a solid strategy that works. BUT, I don't know how realistic it is anymore with all the changes. Right now we are on pace to keep just one HS kid on the roster from each of the past few recruiting years. That is hardly a core. I think CMY is still trying to adjust and figure out the best way forward for VT roster management. My guess is that he would still prefer the approach to build around a core that is developed over 3-4 years in his system. And that would explain his recent portal approach with bringing in several portal freshmen along with the one year senior/grad student. ** Edited by HokieAl at 4/6/2023, 12:28:28 PM
