Agree, it's a whole new world and changing still

Couple things... Of all the players that have transferred out and ended up with P6 level programs, I don't see one that would have changed the outcome of either our season or theirs. Maybe, maybe, DNG could have made some difference here, but I think he was a roll player at OKState and they could have found many others to fill that role. NA, many options for UConn to fill that role, glad for him that he was the one they chose, they would have won if they had gone with someone else, we would have been in the same situation had he stayed. All the others that are brought up went to lower level programs and became key contributors. Tells me they found their level and glad they did, but they weren't going to make VT more competitive in the ACC. As for the roster management, I'm seeing two approaches that are successful. First is keeping a core together and having them grow as a unit. That approach will have years of average to poor teams, with the occasional great year, kind of like us last year. You keep a core of 2 or 3 players together, when they peak you add a couple complimentary players from the portal and make your run. Coaches with more complex systems, this is their path to success, but it takes patience and not many P6 schools will be accepting of it. The other is to retool your roster every year with athletes and scorers and see what happens. The more open and player making plays based a coaches system is, the more likely this approach is to be successful. This is the Cal/KY model, but rather than HS stars, you have the advantage of players that you've had a year or two of college experience to evaluate, which is why it's not working for him, he's still focusing on HS players. There will be highs and lows based on if and how the players gel. This approach is hard on fans and coaches, but I think we'll see a lot more of this in the big name schools and conferences, sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't. I also think this is why we are seeing the style of play that is more physical, players out of control. It's more streetball style and is focused on getting players to the rim and scoring.

We've heard that part of the reason is the bashing he took on social media.
