If greed is the cause, then people have every right to blame the "NCAA"

(aka the schools) because the schools are squarely to blame for sending college athletics down this path. If the schools weren't greedy, then Oklahoma and Georgia would have had no reason to sue the NCAA in the early '80s for violating antitrust laws in how the NCAA managed the broadcasting of games. If SCOTUS had not had the opportunity to rule in that case, then conferences wouldn't have decided to play a conference championship game, sign media contracts with the networks, or create conference networks.
