The sets are going be nuts….

VT can go back to the pick and rolls from 22-23, and utilize jones as a popper. If jones and Poteat are at the 4,5 they are both good enough passers to run sets similar to what Mutts and Alina ran in 21-22. This squad will also be able to push the tempo, hopefully allowing tech to win when the shots aren’t falling. I really really like this team and I think they will be amazing to watch; however, you point still stands that tech lacks many well rounded players; luckily, expectations for this squad will be low, as this season truly serves as a developmental year for both the young players and coaches. Athleticism should take this system to another level and the shooting should be much improved. As for the defense: All the incoming players are either just as good or better with only a few players who will likely be negatives when subbed in. More athleticism = better man to man defense as long as players can still learn the system and make smart reads. Rim protection should no longer be a weakness nor should rebounding assuming lawal can be impactful in both those areas which should translate. The wild card is Wessler, having a 7 footer that is not a complete liability on both ends could be extremely beneficial in certain acc matchups where Vt was constantly outsized last year. I think the sky is the limit with this team. Especially looking at that home Con- slat. We play the top half (hopefully) of the conference at home and the bottom half away.

What will VT look like

Better defensively, more reliant on hero ball offensively to score

That's about as big of a roster turnover as it gets.
