Their players don’t really attend their schools. You don’t really get to know anything about them, and you always see a fraction of their development. All they do is wear your shirts. Why do you care about them? To me, the draw of college sports is developing an affinity for the athletes who are having the same experiences that I did many years ago. They are part of the culture and the history; they represent my school. The big transfer market has damaged a lot of that. And why would the big boys, who can recruit anybody they want, choose to be one-and-dones? Sure they got pretty good by the end of the year. But they don’t win championships.
