They win the games they are supposed to win

They haven't beaten anybody good and I don't think they will beat Duke. They don't even have to play Klempsun. They struggle with bottom tier teams (and they have a bottom feeder schedule) but seem to find a way to win in the end. VT, as has usually been the case under CMY, has that occasional great game but then often follows it up with some real clunkers.
