Just look at the difference between our 🏈 Offense when we changed from Wells to Drones. The outcome was way better, because the plays became much less predictable. Do I worry about Drones running or passing? The answer became you have to worry about both. Defenses hate that, it creates hesitation, and hesitation kills you on the football field. Now take those same things to basketball. Can the point guard score inside? Can the point guard kick it out and find the open player? Can the point guard hit the open 3 if they sag to prevent the first two. Basketball is so much like football in regards to what plays to run are based on the Point Guard’s talent, just like it is to the QB in football. They both pretty much touch the ball on every offensive play, and what they are able do talent and emotional/intelligence wise, dictates what plays are successful. Therefore how many dimensions/plays you have in your offense starts with what your Point Guard is able to do. PS I think our biggest offensive weakness this past year was not being able to score inside with the point guard, and therefore kick out for open shots. I’m happy our new PG has more height. Hopefully that helps us to score inside more, and kick it out to more open players.
