Firstly, I'm happy with the outcome tonight. Don't get me wrong.
(There's a but)...BUT based on runners left on base VT 1-17 vs Duke 1-9, runners in scoring position VT 1-15 vs Duke 0-4, and bases loaded twice but no score, where is the problem in the system? Poor batting order? Good pitching? I don't know the inner workings of baseball enough.
Now, back to enjoying this win...

See what happens when you put the ball in play? You pressure the D; we give pitchers way too many strikes early in order with swings at turf balls or ball up in our eyes

Some of that is on the hitting coach
And can be taught… but the reverse is that you take too many good pitches if you are “ too cautious” at the plate and how many potential hits does that cost you?
I swear the Atlanta Braves used to be the worst at taking way too many strikes and they improved offensively when they had slightly less plate discipline

Team is outperforming expectations this year. Relax and enjoy, especially after a big win.

however is the reliance on big swings leads to lots of Ks which leads to lots of guys stranded vs good pitching
The number of times teams shift against us is indicative that we don’t spray the ball or go the other way with pitches on the outside. Watson being the exception. There is a reason his average is so high
