The mounds were installed last week and the monitors are supposed to be installed this week. From what the team told me, it was supposed to be completed on Jan. 1 but got push back from construction. TSL will have a feature on the lab (with photos) once it’s completed. The story is done (has been for a while), just waiting on the photo op from the athletic department.

my company brought in a new person to head technology procurement, who came from public sector (State, Fed and Higher Ed background). We have a major project underway, with the primary goal of moving away from our way of doing things, to industry best practices and tools. The challenge is, rather than saying, we need to do X, how much, how long? in the proposal, this person demands that we tell them how they are going to do it, how long it will take them, etc. I remember from my days in gov contracting, responding to RFPs like that, and doing performance management on gov construction projects. To win the business, they have to meet the contracting people's timelines and approach, defined by people who don't have a clue how to do it (or how long it will take). Thus, the timeline is irrelevant, you bid it knowing that, and knowing all the things in the spec that are wrong, so you factor that in, the price of rework vs work, and boom, every project is over schedule and over budget....why? Because the schedule and budget were BS because they were set by people who have no clue, rather than by the people who are going to do the work and know how to do it.
