Lewis' power should translate to some degree at the D1 level based on some other recent D2 transfers. Louisville had Luke Napleton this past year who hit .320 with 11 hr, 32 rbi and a 1.086 ops after hitting .352 with 29 hr, 87 rbi and a 1.245 ops at the D2 level in 2023. There are also a couple of other examples (Jakob Christian, Mike Hallquist and Kyle West) that had 14 to 26 HR's and .880 to 1.288 OPS at the D1 level after transferring from D2 with 20+ HR's in the prior season. In any case, to your point, Lewis should give us a right-handed bat that can slot in the middle of the order along with Cooke from the right side and then Michel and Cherry as lefties. I'm not sure if he can be an everyday 3B but hopefully he can at least give us part-time at that spot and can spell Michel at 1B if needed and mix in at DH. With Jake Slade having a very uneven summer, we need someone who can push him and be a bit more of a sure thing in terms of productivity. Craytor will be interesting to see how he pans out. That outing against Oregon was good but his stats in two years at Lafayette are rough (85.0 IP, 1-8 record, 8.36 ERA and 1.95 WHIP). He has had a decent summer this year in 9.0 innings in the Coastal Plain league and he self-reported on X/Twitter that he has a mid 90's fastball and sinker and a mid 80's slider. My guess is the staff likes his raw stuff and are hoping his can put things together more with us. Thanks again for the find on the transfers!
