I'm proud to be an American, live in the US, be spoiled by USA wrestling events, the talent level in USA, the US venues. Don't know what you got until you see the rest of the world. Thanks to everyone in the wrestling community for affording me the ability to truly love this sport.

The student part of athlete probably is a great distant second.

Taylor threw both of his ankle bands dead center into robideau's chest in front of America and no unsportsmanlike call -1 team point. I'm sick of these "let's just ignore bad behavior " refs because they are afraid of the optics.

There are two words top programs never mention: 1. Conf title. 2. Seed.

Why do you think Haught is the "upper weight" problem? EV is no upper weight and he might be the biggest VT seeding disappointment since Scott Justice. I don't think coaching was the issue with EV. Forget the robinson match. That should never have happened. EV is cruising in the quarters wrestling an EV match. He is handed an absolute gift from the wrestling gods and failed to do what EV does. Typically in TB EV sits out and hard hip heists his way to freedom. For some dam reason he this time tries a slow pathetic stand up and the rest is history.

When you look at the ENTIRE team(so far) who they wrestled this weekend vs who we beat at ACC and how they faired; we **** the bed. Very much like how NC State always **** the bed when they won ACC. Winning the the ACC is NOT a curse or jinx. It's an illusion of greatness allowing the winner to feel like they can take their feat off the gas or perhaps they have reached a higher rung of the accomplishment latter creating a tiny chink in the armor. The smallest distraction between conference and nationals is all it takes to go from greatness to head scratching moment. Personally, I think we are one "sports psychologist" away from doing incredible great things on the national level. Recruiting- 💪 Coaching- 💪Haught is not a problem IMO. Culture-💪 Schedule- 💪 Stamina-💪 We no longer lose matches because of conditioning. Nutrition-💪Long ago I sent an email to Coach Roby explaining what I saw(nutritionally) with David Mcfadden leaving pools of water on the mat then watching him take a nose dive off the stamina cliff. His electrolites were so far out of wack. Coach Roby and I went back and forth with a couple emails, and the very next season the "nutritionist" became a thing. A GREAT thing. Sports Psychology-😤Some kids come with it naturally but others need help in this area(obviously)MIND, BODY, and SOUL must be strong 100% of the time. I think only a paid professional should be considered. Do NOT underestimate the power of the mind in the sport of wrestling.

Can't penalize that style with bad grades. I'd give him an A+ if he wins in TB over every other opponent moving forward. But this match had him trying for points and giving them away instead.

Be objective with what you saw against who they wrestled: 125 D+ 133 A+ 141 D 149 C 157 C+ 165 C- (A+ UNTIL THE FINAL 10 SECONDS) 174 C- 184 A (ALL COMMON OPPONENTS STEERED THIS TOWARDS A BULLOCK LOSS) 197 F (BIGGEST UPSET OF THE TOURNAMENT ON PAPER) 285 D (B+/A- UNTIL THE FINAL 15 SECONDS) I love our guys but man, we have a long way to go with mat awareness/intelligence.

So the score is 2-2 in SV OT. Bouzakis got a reversal in the 2nd, up 2-0. Eddie goes neutral in the 3rd. Forces a stall early. Gets 2nd stall with 1:05 left. losing 2-1. Gets 3rd stall with :08 seconds left. tied 2-2. In SV OT eddie is going at bouzakis like a deranged starving dog on a perfectly seasoned rib-eye. The ref doesn't want to but has no choice but to call yet another tall. eddie wins 4-2 is sv. ;)

That 100 pounder is tough. The freshman she wrestled in the finals knocked off the 3x champ on the other side of the bracket. And she handled the freshman pretty well in the finals. Lets not forget that VA girls absolutely dominated the beast of the east.

Melvin, If i was you(you are much bigger man than i), I would have said yeah, you were my first ever interview and you JUST GOT YOUR LAST. Serisously, the guy put the child on the spot with personal questions about his family all but forcing him to admit his parents got divorced etc.etc. These interviewers should be ignored.

I was very worried seeing the lack of mat awareness and continuing OT issues vs Minn. NC State looked great vs Their first two opponents. They looked very tough and scrappy vs OKIE ST. Then we got ahold of NC State. EVERTHING I thought they would do to us(didn't happen), and we in fact did to them. We punished them physically and mentally. All of a sudden, the mat awareness issues were gone. Instead of our normal find a way to lose a match these guys were finding a way to win. Moment of the night, "Cut him we need the bonus" re: state coach w/ Nininger. Not only did that backfire, it cost them the match. These freshmen are the real deal. Today is going to be a great test of mental toughness and endurance. I loved what I saw and I know it's only going to get better.

Is the bulk of NIL $ nothing more than private donations? Why are the athletes not getting merch sales revenue, a percentage of ticket sales/tv contracts revenue?

The football team has never won crap. the wrestling team hasn't won anything in 20 years? They are in the middle of no where but yet have so much more $$$ than VT? Ok.

Maybe the football coach should get $100k for each win, 500k Bowl win/250k appearance, 500k playoff appearance/1M per playoff win etc etc. maybe the athletes should be paid in a similar fashion.

I believe we have to change the way we throw our passions towards it. For many years, all we had to do was keep an eye on "our guys" watch them, support them, and cheer for them. NIL has now pushed fans towards no longer supporting an individual rather now it feels like we have to watch, support, and cheer for the VT logo. Getting emotionally attached to the individual will only lead to emotions that are not healthy. Everyone preaches how VT Wrestling(and most other teams) are a "Family." Ok, fair enough. Not sure how many times(if any at all) I would allow my wife to "shop the market" before I kicked that @$$ to the curb.

Some people here are in such denial sometimes and feel obligated to protect fragile emotions at the expense of a perceived truth!
