Posting History (49)

New international recruit on X too. 5’9” guard, shooter

Highlights certainly look good (they always do!), nice stroke/arc. ** Edited by mwke at 6/15/2026, 12:43:39 PM ** Edited by mwke at 6/15/2026, 6:35:45 PM

Or maybe she wants to go to VT, is a valuable add for depth, bench strength

and perhaps development longer term to become a contributor? Curious who else she visited and was considering. Big leap, will be pulling for her regardless.

Is Lawal MIA late 2H?

Not on the floor and don’t see him on the bench. Hopefully just a quick wiz!

Ohio State bball court is brutal to look at on TV too

Wake Forest was a tough watch, the OSU court is so bleached out that I feel like I’m watching an Xbox college bball version. Makes me appreciate Cassell even more.

You asked about new lighting in the arena? Was BRUTAL to watch on TV

The checkerboard flooring, lighting, and uniform colors (gold) made it a horrible watch... maybe just our TV, but yuk.

Anyone see any news out there from the Seton Hall scrimmage?

Saw the video posted by HMBB, but nothing in terms of stats or outcome. I realize they aren’t publicized but there’s typically a trickle of observations?

Or just busy texting away for 26 & 27 prospects/classes since the offers

are clearly flying. Love the effort/energy of this staff. Hoping the team stays healthy and gels for Year 2 and gets back to the tourney. Only tough part about Year 1 is it ended too soon, left me wanting to watch them more. Great effort all year.

Vibes for WBB on X from Coach S Z-N

Perhaps we’re not done adding for 25/26? Or a quick start to next year’s class? Inquiring minds want to know. LGH

Looks very athletic. Can defend and finish, create her own midrange shot.

Building a lot of depth at the Guard/Wing positions to play fast. Adding athleticism with this get. Thinking good thoughts for a solid/bigger 4 or a 5 to put a bow on it. LGH!

Speaking pretty confidently. Are you a friend of the family or someone

in the program? $3MM may not be accurate... 7-figures may not be accurate... but it's likely a lot more than you think it is, things are really exploding. Do have a family that we know, son just transferred from an ACC school to a B10 school, will be a back-up, will make significant money. Won't note it here as it's not my business to share, but it's way more than I ever could have imagined for him. With the money grab prior to the NCAA settlement, I'm curious if some schools and players are settling on multiple years for a certain amount. Would make some of these numbers make much more sense. Prob not, but crazy $$$. ** Edited by mwke at 4/24/2025, 7:13:15 PM

May not be true... or perhaps it's over multiple years and other incentives

But here's a link to what's being reported. I get it may not be accurate, but it's not just a my-friends-uncles-neighbor-said

My son sent me a text, said RR getting $3MM

Crazy if that’s a real number. Don’t see how this is sustainable.

Culture matters more than anything

There’s a reason the young, talented players that continue to stay have stayed. I’m hopeful for one or two impactful bigs like everyone else, but culture matters as much or more than pure talent, and I’m good if it goes slower if we get the right fits. Players continue to enter the portal too, who knows who shows! Thinking good thoughts.

Really impressed with her professionalism

I don’t think I would have been able to handle the post game interview so professionally after Rose was tossed. If she mouthed off to a ref that should be a T. But where was the push? Looked like she was separating others in both directions vs flagrantly going after an opposing player. Duffy steadily rises above it all and is a great role model to the team - can’t react and need to get beyond the moment and move on.

Listening to Evan Hughes broadcast until they fix it

We just hit a three and VT fans were vocal. Sounded like as many of us vs them.

Wondering if they are pursuing a med redshirt

He seems to be engaged and celebrates other players. Hard to envision that if he was disgruntled and already thinking about leaving. ??

Solid game from J Young

I’m sure it’s been a tough season for him, starting early but not playing that well. Then sliding pretty deep down the bench. Came out today competing and delivered some much needed scoring confidently looking for his shot. I’d like to see him (and many others) working harder on D, but his play today was crucial to get the win. Earned more minutes vs Schutt, confidence is key. Here’s hoping it’s the start of a trend up.

Latency on the play by play is brutal!

Come on with the budget broadcast. Maybe we haven’t been playing that well but this is rough!

Love watching this team compete!

Gaining more and more confidence too. Let’s go Hokies! Congrats players, coaches and Coach Duffy. Thrilled to have you all on board.

Victoria Haugen VT Soccer playing in TST Final on ESPN+

Playing for team sponsored by NC Courage. Tied with US Women’s Team at the half 1-1. 7v7, target score finish, fun to watch if you like soccer. Men’s final to follow.

Thanks for sharing -- good listen.

There's obviously angst among many with Georgia leaving, but she gave her all to VT and was a great representative for the University during her time with us. Thrilled she's graduating a Hokie, and wish her long-term success on the court as well with the Opals and her pro career... it's a long journey, time heals wounds! Go Hokies.

Great find...

Looking at height and PPG to ID potential candidates to fill inside spots ... slim pickens! Guards a-plenty.

Long, athletic...

Long, athletic... mind needs to catch up with his athleticism. Probably a really nice long-term piece for WF. Assuming they can keep him if he does indeed blossom there! Crazy NIL world...

I thought I’d enjoy watching Iowa, but….

The whining is brutal and the calls for Clark are over the top. She hand-fights the defender every time she drives right. Impossible to guard if you give her that advantage and don’t call it straight up. Of course I’d love her if she were a Hokie. Haha.

But would Stanford and Cal really want to keep the ACC around? Or...

would they rather land in the B1G long term, that isn't likely to happen for the next 5-10 years, so why not join a league that gives good (not great) economics, has member institutions that care more about things you care about than other options like the Big12, and then when the next round comes they'll be positioned to exit and land in one of the coast-to-coast P2s along with others in the ACC that are ultimately headed that route?? Again, just feels like a longer term under current could be playing out here for the have's vs. the have nots.

ACC strategy - if Stanford and Cal join, is this move potentially

about appeasing (as much as possible) some of the current ACC members who ultimately will land in the B1G and SEC by creating a "holding pen" for two others that offer brand recognition when the P2 decide timing is right to add additional members? It's tough to add so many teams all at once - both logistically as well as not eroding economics for existing members - but if UNC, UVA, Miami, VT (fingers crossed) and even Clemson and FSU already know they are headed elsewhere, but not until the cost of exiting and GOR come more in line with timing and $$ available by joining the P2, would adding two strong west coast names to the stable for the near term while positioning for the long term potentially be the play? Seems like there has to be a longer term play here vs. adding two to the stable that don't make sense for the long haul?

Thanks CJ - I've been watching for lower seats but no luck so far...

Just wanted to ensure sitting right to the side of the portals doesn't totally blow up your view of 1/2 the court! Feels like we'll survive if that's where we land. I'll keep looking lower until I ultimately pull the trigger! Much appreciated.

Do the Cassell portal/entrances/railings create an obstructed view if

you're seated really close to the sides of the entrances - rows O to V for example? I'm trying to grab tickets to the Duke game (bringing my daughter in from Wisconsin for a college visit), and I can't recall... the tickets I'm seeing are all right at the sides of the entrances, I'm wondering if the views are obstructed and that's why.... Would appreciate some coaching - thanks!
