Posting History (185)

For those that struggle with the new Flo, from Track you can click

the "Events Classic" tab, and then on the "Enter Event" prompt select "Viewer (Classic)" from the drop down menu for "User Type" before clicking "Enter Event". This gives you access to the bulk of the old Track viewer options. Hopefully Flo will improve by then, but at the moment it is challenging.

It is in an indoor track arena. No elevated bleachers, all on 1 level.

There are some small mobile metal bleachers scattered around, but recommend bringing folding chairs for more comfortable seating options. You do have to work to keep up with what matches are on what mats with Track/Flo. It is an enjoyable and unique experience for college athletics. You have the freedom to walk mat to mat and see all the athletes and coaches up close.

Yeah but I thought there was no reaction time at end of periods and oob

Could just be a thing I heard and understood it incorrectly ** Edited by hokie576 at 3/22/2025, 9:32:19 PM

Select VT under My Wrestlers, and matt assign. by team will default to VT.

Can also use this to select any other team's individual wrestlers you would like to keep up with.

Not sure how they review and not call the head gear pull.

One moment his head gear is normal, his head gets snapped down, and all of a sudden 1 strap is un attached . Wonder what caused that ? Not only did they not call it, that’s when they called him for stalling as he circled back in . The 1st stall call was a round 18 seconds left (on the broad cast clock- which was jacked up). You can see the ref point toward him and the announcers ask if that’s the 2nd stall call. They hit him twice in 10 seconds. 2

OSU defense was nasty. Don't think anyone not named Hipolito got a takedown

Scary how good Taylor and his PSU staff have the the Cowboys looking 1st semester of year 1.

Pretty awesome opening weekend for Salem area Hokies.

Friday Night - Dual Saturday - Tournament Sunday - JR SE open for my kid to wrestle in ** Edited by hokie576 at 8/14/2024, 11:36:08 AM

Gotta be one of the best videos I've ever seen. Gonna miss him.

My 9 year old's favorite part of the youth camp this summer was when Bryce came in, did a back flip, and showed them the spladle. My boys are gonna miss watching "the crazy guy" .

True, but seems like OSU high # would balance that out. Still seems low.

Guessing it was lower due to being a weak home schedule outside of OSU. Missing the NCSU home dual to bump those #s up.

Man that's a tough situation for him.

Maybe he wanted out of UNC anyway as the fan support just seems zero there. But he sure seemed to make OSU better this year compared to last year.

Agree,Catka really impressed at NCAAs. Missed AA by 1-0 to the 4th placer.

After ACCs was thinking he and Smith would both transfer to finish last years elsewhere as starters But after sold runs to the blood round , neither have entered portal yet .

Could also be a sign of likability among ACC coaches

I too thought Pop would win it this year, especially after such a dominating ACC tourney. But if everyone hates you and your performance at nationals gives the coaches an excuse to vote otherwise , well….

That suck back 1st time Gomez restarted on bottom, Frayer film prep again?

If so, that's the 2nd National Champ a big move from top got us based on studying a guy's tendencies from bottom.

Yup , mat assignments by team on track seems like it’d be the best option.

Then can flip back to overall mat assignments to keep up with non Hokie matches you want to watch,

So the committee is 1 coach & rest are administrators. 1 coach being SDSU

I bet he took 1 look at 174 and said , β€œwell looks great to me guys , let’s move on”. To be fair the Flo podcast I listened to on this said there’s only 1 coach on the committee because no one else will volunteer for it.

Think 1 match from 15 really hurt Starocci in formula.

The combo of a weak qualifying event placement , and no rpi score really bumped him down. Oddly enough , if Mekhi wrestled 14 instead of exactly 15 matches , he may have dropped to the 2 or 3 and been sitting in a much better spot with no RPI score.

Tv scoreboard kept it , but ref waved it off

You can see the 2nd time he put him to his back the ref gives the 3 for the td , then when the match ends gives the 4 for backs.

No idea what’s a take down anymore. Ref took away Lewis initial TD.

Mekhi took him feet to back and holds him there for 3 seconds Ref holds up 3, but then wipes it off as McCoy grabs the leg and rolls thru. Luckily Mekhi is a beast and works him back to his back , holds him there for another 3 seconds and the ref finally awards the takedown. Would have been a lot of angry Hokies today if McCoy had just laid flat and held onto the leg until time ran out after rolling thru. How long do you have to hold someone their back to earn a td ?

What's required to initiate it?

Meaning what would prevent a guy that's just gassed from using it to his advantage? Does there have to be a noticeable strike to the head? All I saw that UVA guy do was look from his ankle, to his knee, to his ribs to see what was hurting and the problem was in the lungs. Then sure enough he comes back out like he was fired out of a cannon.

Worry about our knee situation.

Sam looked ok movement wise, but still wearing sleeve/brace. Think it may be hurting him on bottom. Henson had a taped knee and a pad on. Don't remember seeing that before ACCs. He hasn't looked nearly as aggressive in the 2nd half of the season as he did early on through CKLV, wonder if that's related. Bryce is clearly in rough shape and just gutting it out because it's his last go. He's probably hurting this morning. 2 matches would have been preferred vs 4 yesterday, but his and Scott's seed didn't help out. Brady was finally looking good and confident and then gets hurt. Not sure how bad. Mekhi looks relatively good, just had the calf taped. Hunter's knee looked heavily taped in finals. He's favored it some through out the year.

Some legit complaints, but yeah you guys really beat us down this year.

Biggest ref complaint was the 149, can't remember seeing that called a take down all year. But props to you guys for taking it to us this year. You won all of the finals head to head matches except 184. Then the rest of the ACC didn't help out at all. We can't blame it much on a hurt Andonian. He sucked it up, finished 3rd and got us a pin. Not that many more points he could have scored. What scored a lot points was having 7 ACC champions.

Can’t remember ever seeing this before

A guy that was clearly gassed going back to the 2nd period , gets an extended break for concussion protocol after not hitting his head at all .

Kenndy has looked great as of late, but prefer his side vs Griffith's.

Think Shane Griffith is a tougher style match up for Mekhi. He also likes to keep it close, doesn't take a lot of risks, and is a hammer on top.

If he medical forfeits 2x at Big 10s, he could drop a bit in the formula.

I believe only 1 of those loses will "count" towards his record. Think the new rule is medical forfeits count as a loss, but the 2nd one doesn't if it directly follows a medical forfeit in a tournament. What would really hurt him is that would put him at 14 (or 13?) matches, so short of the 15 needed for an RPI. So he would not have an RPI score, which is 10% of the formula. Additionally he would not have a score in the Qualifying Event Placement category, which is also 10% of the formula. Coaches can argue some, but I think they can only move up 1 or 2 spots in how the formula spits out the ranking.

So Mekhi needs to wrestle all 6 duals & 2 at ACCs to get RPI for NCAAs

Crazy tough schedule for him preseason, but will get no benefit from these guys: Kharchla - Win - probably won't help him much since he likely won't be in NCAA field to count as quality win Starocci - Loss - doesn't count - exhibition match Mocco - Injured and didn't wrestle dual Foca - bumped up to 184

Then winner of that gets Chittum ISU in quarters

Crazy setup as seeded. Do wonder if 2 seed Teemer will end up wrestling. Think he’s missed some time due to injury. If he doesn’t that would move things around a lot.

Here's a short video of it

People see things differently, and I'm wrong a lot, but having a hard time seeing it that way. He stands straight up, only controlling the ankle. No arm around the neck area that you would typically use in a bow and arrow to take the guy over. From my perspective, he transitioned to a bow and arrow (good wrestling), realized if he took him over it would have been out of bounds, so he stood up hard with it to leave an impression. Here's video of it:
