As long as the buyout is reasonable

Im ok. The initial buyout and ALL future negotiations over it should assume that coach will be gone in 3 years, either because he sucks or he did a good enough job to move up. These lengthy contracts create these zombie situations in years 4 and 5 where you have to agonize over whether ite worth it to move on.

They should have a profile of every living alumni...

Thier interests, the interests of thier children, interests of thier grandkids, etc. Contact every single one of them and offer something! "Oh Mister Smith, I know your granddaughter really enjoys soccer and lives in Va Beach, we'd love for her to join the team on field for pre-game kick arounds and post game when we are at ODU next week. I can email you a pass right now." Its not that hard- It pays for itself. Every facet of the department could be a selling point for the revenue generating portion. CMS SaS exists folks.

ADs should hire and contract coaches on assumption they will be gone...

In 3 years... either because they are horrible or because they are doing a hell of a job. Rinse and repeat, for God's sake never increase the buyout. Either they want to be your guy or they want to be somewhere else. Its just good business sense. We certainly cant afford to do it the way everyone else does it.....

Yeah I tried that as well, no go

Lights still washed the picture. I could have moved about 100 yards to get to a dark place but wasn't that motivated

Couldn't see the northern lights last night...

My neighbor keeps yard brightly lit and I'm wondering if that washed out the skyline

I see the drama over the bad end of game call is giving Pry a pass

Perhaps that's natural but 10 point lead with 8 minutes, clock management. Etc. More pressing issues then leaving game in hands of dodgy refs and conference officials

Looks like this 🌀 is further east then forecasted?

Accuweather windchart shows the eye between Franklin NC & Chattanooga...

Probably because they have an east coast game...

The greenbrier often hosts NFL teams heading east for 2 game swings

How far behind is the program on facilities?

What would have to happen to bring it up the the upper quadrant of the ACC for example?

Parts of Mid Atlantic have been saturated for a week at this point...

If the track takes a crazy turn and comes up through Virginia, there could be major flooding with even a minimal amount of rain

The results spoke for themselves

Just pointing out that in rolling the same dice UT did, it just didn't work out, at least the 1st time.

I mean Fuente was that "break" in lineage...

It didn't work out but he was the Huepel equivalent in this articles scenario, moving to a terroritory where he had no recruiting inroads.

College debt should become partially dischargeable in bankruptcy

After a certain period of time, with the college's endowment funds covering part of the balance leftover

This article doesn't say but she probably spent very few nights camping

I imagine she had a chase vehicle meet at trailheads for overnight rest and recovery. Very hard on the body

Went to high school football. Pregamethey played. BEP "let's get it started

I was reminded of the original "let's get ******ed" and poor KHokie being thoroughly confused and upset anytime we would mention it. Evidently, she had only ever heard the radio edit. She had a way of being arrogantly ignorant though that I still remember ** Edited by One4VT at 9/23/2024, 12:30:25 PM

Your coach is either winning or not

If he's winning, there's no amount of buyout $ that will keep him there, if he's losing these buyouts will cripple. Sign them to a 3 year and see what you get. Rinse and repeat.

Coaches move on either to another job or being fired....

Being afraid to cut the cord (and/or offering a new contract at the 1st sign of success) is myopic when you just look at the stark reality of how coaching careers work

They will join Salford, whose become a bit static in L2

The class of 92 ManU boys started out even lower then Wrexham with Salford, almost 9 years ago now.

Pigs get fat, Hogs get slaughtered...

PGA put itself in this position by allowing its executives to call too many shots. Classic principal/agent problem. Not the first, not the last!

Was approached in Richmond this winter... "needed $ to buy food"

I had an extra boxed lunch in hand from the event I was leaving. He wasn't interested... un huh! The problem of course is the temptation to spend more because the card has access to the liquid funds. It was easier for your wife to track the cash, she had it or not. Did you set up sweep transfers to remove the excess funds to an account not linked? ** Edited by One4VT at 4/3/2023, 2:25:55 PM

Not to say he can't get better...

He's one of the youngest, hasn't played before, most of the kids/coaches know each other. He's got a lot to do and I'm afraid the stacked deck will make it hard for him to learn to love the game this spring. Yes- I'm throwing with him, hitting off the tee at home and in cage before practice to get his bat up to speed. His hand eye coordination has to come along.

The Lounge 3 y ago

Yes of course, I'm talking about the things they have control over..

And it's not just the coaches but the vision of the league. If you are compressing your league schedule to make room for tourny ball, then you are absolutely making a choice about ignoring fundamentals. Of course I'm in the yard throwing with him but if it's his first time out, he needs that attention when the team is between the lines at practice.

7/8 year olds

If you stick a kid out in the outfield and then scold him for not paying attention, it's poor coaching. I've coached so I understand the temptations of setting up your best lineups but your weaker kids won't learn the game if they don't get opportunity. Ends up being a selection bias situation. I'm loath to interfere though

The Lounge 3 y ago

Enrolled youngest in rec baseball league

We've been a soccer family but I wanted him to try. Must say so far, I'm not the most encouraged. Everything seems geared toward the kids that have been playing long term and summer tournys. Season seems super compressed and they won't practice once it starts. I wouldn't say he's being neglected but kids that already have skills don't need as much coaching time as they are getting. Looks like they are going to stick him in right field where he probably wont get a lot of action and will struggle to jold his attention. Am I being too pessimistic? ** Edited by One4VT at 3/20/2023, 2:11:19 PM

If it's a junior position, I feel for them

They are probably in a no win situation being tasked with a job that requires them to NAG across departments to get things for which they don't hold any level of explicit authority to at least command a baseline of respect. That's obviously not the right way to get it done but I've seen this before where someone loses it after trying to be diplomatic but being stonewalled because other departments can be bothered to respond due to different priorities ** Edited by One4VT at 1/26/2023, 11:23:12 AM

What kills me is when you negotiate a turn time for a request...

And then they are checking in ahead of deadline to "make sure we are on track".

Where do you shop for business clothing?

I've gotten lazy over the last 10 years because we had a corporate wear program serviced by a vendor with options you could easily pick from. That program is now ending and obviously retail shopping has changed quite dramatically in the meantime! I have to fend for myself now and found that the local JCP and Belks are a shell of thier former selves. How are you outfitting your business wear these days?

I'm not saying Pry is the evidence of the downside

It's the entire state of the things as inherited by Pry. Time will tell if he can right the ship
