They have him ranked #15. Also have Orine beating him in the dual comparison despite Connor beating him in the last head to head. Connor also had a better record against common opponents. If this is the difference in us winning or losing the ACC, I hope FLO is correct.

I think if Trumble bumps up, it gives us a shot at 197. If State had Trumble and Trephan that would give them a better lineup in my opinion. Of course Knopp (NCS #197) pinned Sasso last year head to head, so there's that. I'm hoping Smith and Catka continue to build on NCAA's and give the freshmen one more year in the room.

We could not have done any better at 174 and 133 also had to be one of the top as well. Robie/Frayer continue to outdo themselves on the recruiting trail. If we are adding the coach we think we are, that will be impressive as well. The unnamed coach is also on the football staff at his current school. I wonder what we were able to work out financially for him.

Good to hear about 165, Brady/Uley either one keeps us at the top of ACC. State will still be a beast in duals but if we keep everyone healthy we will be right there with the Pack.

I assumed yesterday's verbal was McGonagle from Lehigh. I believe it was confirmed on the board that he was visiting for the weekend. I did not know if there was another recruit/transfer in play.

but aren't they saying 5 if Lewis returns. I thought the letters in parentheses under the projected lineup was their prediction. That was the part that I thought seemed accurate. Yes, there are some obvious mistakes within the summary, which HikingHokie pointed out. I just thought 5 AA's with 4 NQ's wasn't that far off, but maybe the parenthesis was their best finish. I'm not real sure now.

Not sure any of those guys will be ranked super high but I agree with FLO, they should qualify for nationals. Not sold on Howard being the 197, but at this point, the summary seems pretty fair.

at Penn St you start losing 7 matches in a year or start getting seeded #12 you will get over recruited, where most other schools would celebrate your accomplishments.

While he more than showed (hopefully) his future potential, a few weeks back he didn't win a watered down 125# at ACC's. Camacho comes back next year (I guess). Not sure if anyone has checked recently, but can he score on Flynn yet. I do hope this momentum carries over to next year but he was seeded low for a reason. IMHO, the jury is still out on V, but I'm pulling for him to get better.

I've been away for most of the season due to a family member in hospice care (not a victim, it's just life). I didn't miss watching a dual but wasn't always able to watch live. At Nationals, I think we actually hit our ceiling for 2023. 5 AA's is quite impressive, especially for a couple of newcomers. Trade out Vent for Bolen and this is probably what I thought we could accomplish. The ceiling at Nationals is #3. Just don't think we have the finances to compete with Iowa and Penn St. #3-#10 seem to fluctuate somewhat but it's still the same programs year after year. I'm thankful we are in that conversation. A few things that still leaves me scratching my head. We are the only program that can compete with State in a dual but we can't capture the tournament. Head to head we really give them fits, but always come up short and truthfully we are not that close in score. The ACC's should be renamed The NC State Invitational until someone can take it from them. We bicker about their style but they are formidable every time they hit the mat. Pop continues to reload and it's always a dogfight with them (no pun intended). I always like to see what other programs or fan bases have to say about our team, because the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle compared to how we feel about ourselves. There's a knock that our guys regress under Robie offensively. I'm not saying it's true but Mekhi and Bolen look nothing like they did in their first or second year. Thanks Bolen for coming back one more year to pour out your soul for this program. I really wonder if the sport is just ravaging some of these guys bodies. I'm not sure any other sport can compare to what these guys have to do to themselves to compete. From a Hokie fan, I would just like to say thank you. Future looks promising, hopefully next year I can be a little more engaging with you guys. Thanks for the forum, Will. Go Hokies!

This is me using logic, but I would think if your school is traveling to a tri meet, you could take enough backups to fill in for injuries. However, this is the NCAA so I'm sure there is something unreasonable that will apply to numbers.

Look at it this way, if you are #10 at your weight class, you are now competing with guys who are ranked also in the last 3 to 4 high school classes before you. So you are more than likely a top 30-40 wrestler potentially at the college level which isn't necessarily elite. Also rankings (high school) don't always carry over to the college level. Penn St and Iowa have the culture and financial resources that set them apart from everybody. Ohio St made a big splash last year with their recruiting class but #3 is distant from the top 2. Start winning some ACC team trophies, and continue winning ACC individual trophies will be a start. Keep getting guys qualified for NCAA's and perhaps an individual National champion or 2 and we'll be right on that #3-#6 program in the country. #1 or #2 team right now still seems like a long ways away.
